Frequently asked questions

Helpful information before you book an online consultation.

What can I expect from an online vet consultation?
A veterinarian can review the information you share, discuss your concerns, offer general next-step guidance, and explain when an in-person examination is recommended.
When is an online vet consultation appropriate?
Online consultations can be useful for many non-emergency questions and everyday concerns. They are not a substitute for urgent or emergency veterinary care.
What should I prepare before the consultation?
Keep your pet’s relevant history, current symptoms, recent photos or videos, medicines or supplements, and your main questions ready to share.
Can I get a second opinion through an online consultation?
A veterinarian may be able to discuss an existing diagnosis or treatment plan using the records you provide. Depending on the case, additional records or an in-person examination may still be needed.
What happens after the consultation?
The veterinarian can explain the next steps that are appropriate for the concern, including what to monitor and whether follow-up or an in-person examination is advisable.
Is online veterinary consultation suitable for every pet and every concern?
Suitability depends on the species, the concern, the information available and the veterinarian’s clinical judgement. Some problems require hands-on examination, tests or emergency care.
What if my pet needs urgent or emergency care?
If your pet has severe breathing difficulty, collapse, uncontrolled bleeding, repeated seizures, suspected poisoning, major trauma or another urgent condition, seek the nearest emergency or physical veterinary facility immediately.
Can medicines be recommended during an online consultation?
What can be recommended or prescribed depends on the individual case and applicable veterinary rules. The veterinarian will explain what can safely be handled online and when an in-person examination is required.
